Shah Rukh Khan's 'Happy New Year' was expected to do well, what with a mega marketing drive, backed by screening in over 6,000 theatres and of course, getting the timing right - Hrithik Roshan's 'Bang Bang' was the last big release and that too had happened weeks and weeks ago, leaving Bollywood lovers virtually parched for new fare.

Success was guaranteed and so it came to pass. Records are tumbling as 'Happy New Year' box office collections keep going from strength to strength – day 1, opening weekend, Rs 100 cr club and more to follow, if filmi pundits are to be believed.

Now, as per Koi Moi, Shah Rukh Khan's 'Happy New Year' box office collections have raced past the Rs 200 cr mark in no time at all – managing to generate a gross of Rs 230.85 crore in 4 days.
While India gross figures make up Rs 178.35 crore, the rest Rs 52.50 crore is made up of foreign takes.

That means Shah Rukh Khan's 'Happy New Year' is well on its way to challenge the ultimate box office collections figure of Aamir Khan's 'Dhoom 3', which bagged lifetime figures in excess of Rs 500 cr. #financialexpress
