Director Farah Khan doesn’t do dark films. Her films are festive and celebrate all things Bollywood — the colour, the feverish dance moves and hyperbolic emotions.

The scene set in Dubai is spectacular. If Khan’s oiled abs are on full display, the scenes against the backdrop of Atlantis, The Palm, the fountains at the Dubai Mall and ice rink among others, are no less gleaming.

Verdict: Watch this if you love Khan and Dubai, and are good with suspending belief for over three hours.

Farah Khan’s magnum opus Happy New Year is built on a foundation of the rock hard and sometimes podgy abs of her star cast. Recurring dialogue from her previous movies, gestures and the ever-looming skyline of the Atlantis that appears over and over and over again, give déjà vu a WHOLE new meaning.

In Happy New Year, like her previous flicks, the best is saved for the last as the entire cast and crew take part in a “Worst Dance Competition” when the credits roll.

Verdict: Happy New Year is worth a watch this festive season.
