For quite some time, we have been hearing news of stars getting calls and extortion demands from the underworld dons. This said, most of the stars in Bollywood have got such calls now and again and though the police is trying its best to find the underworld operatives, yet, another case was reported when the police arrested a gang of seven members who belonged to a gang run by Ravi Pujari, a notorious extortionist in Mumbai. They were arrested following their attack on the house of producer, Karim Morani who held the distribution rights of Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. The main reason could be because instead of choosing a friend of his, HNY Distribution rights were given to Karim Morani.

As per the evidence collected by the police, they have been informed that the group had planned an attack on Farah Khan, and then at Shah Rukh Khan’s office and even on Mahesh Bhatt. This information was gathered by the police after interrogating the seven member gang of Ravi Pujari.
This menace of extortion has been storming across Bollywood for quite some time now. With big budget movies being made, and movies doing great in box office, these extortionists often resort to giving threats to the lives or property of the celebrities from Bollywood.
The Joint Commissioner of Police, Sadananda Date stated that they had gathered information from the seven gang members who had weapons to carry out the attack and had even wished to act on it. They were ready to use this as a mission to gain total control over the entire film industry to spread terror through extortion. But, before they could do anything, they were rounded up by the police after they attacked on Karim Morani’s house.
